2015 UCI Road World Championships – Women's Road Race
The Women's road race of the 2015 UCI Road World Championships took place in and around Richmond, Virginia, United States on September 26, 2015. The course of the race was with the start and finish in Richmond. Pauline Ferrand-Prévot was the defending champion, having won the world title in 2014. In a sprint finish of a select group of nine riders, Great Britain's Lizzie Armitstead added the rainbow jersey to her UCI Women's Road World Cup overall victory, out-sprinting Dutch rider Anna van der Breggen by just over a wheel's length. Ashleigh Moolman Pasio (née Moolman; born 9 December 1985) is a South African professional female road bicycle racer, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . She competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Women's road race, finishing 16th and in the Women's time trial finishing 24th. On 9 December 2020, she won the first edition of the UCI Cycling Esports World Championships, organised on the online cycling platform Zwift. Career She tried to start a career in triathlon but after discovering her talent in cycling, and a series of injuries, dedicated herself fully to professional road cycling. Alena Vasileŭna Amialiusik ( be, Алена Васільеўна Амялюсік; born 6 February 1989) is a Belarusian road bicycle racer, who rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . She competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Women's road race, finishing 15th. She was announced as a member of the squad for the 2015 season. She also competed in the 2015 European Games for Belarus, in cycling, more specifically, the women's road race and earned a gold medal. Emma Johansson
Emma Karolina Johansson (born 23 September 1983) is a Swedish retired professional racing cyclist. Nicknamed ''Silver Emma'', Johansson accumulated many second and third places at major championships and one-day classics. In 2013 she finished the year as number one on the UCI Women's World Ranking. She won the silver medal in the women's road race at both the 2008 and 2016 Summer Olympics, as well as one silver and two bronze medals at the Road World championships. Elisa Longo Borghini (born 10 December 1991) is an Italian professional road cyclist, who rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . During her career, Longo Borghini has won two bronze medals in the road race at the Summer Olympic Games, taking third-place finishes in Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo. Lauren Rollin (born 21 November 1990) is an Australian former professional racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2012 and 2021. A female road cyclist from New South Wales, Australia, Rollin studied a Bachelor of Planning at the University of NSW in Sydney part-time as well as cycling for NSW and Australia at local, interstate and international events.
